Support Responsible Business Partners

ICMM company members are committed to high standards of sustainability performance.

Their commercial success is in part dependent on a range of business relationships with joint venture partners, suppliers and contractors – and so the sustainability performance and practices of these related companies matter.

Failure to pay attention to this may result in members being indirectly associated with adverse health and safety, environmental, human rights or labour practices, which in turn can adversely impact on the reputation of members. As leaders in sustainable development, members commit to actively promote the adoption of responsible business practices through their relationships with business partners.

Strengthening Operational Capacity

ICMM company members recognise the value of having business partners with a strong commitment to sustainability. As a consequence, ICMM company members are increasingly specifying requirements that apply to their suppliers or other business partners.

In recognition of the increasing importance of responsible sourcing, ICMM has produced Demonstrating Value: A guide to responsible sourcing to help members understand, navigate and respond to external responsible sourcing initiatives and to improve their own sustainable procurement practices.
