Sally Innis

Senior Programme Officer

Dr. Sally Innis joined ICMM in April 2023 as a senior programme officer for the mine closure and water work programs. Prior to joining ICMM, Sally completed her PhD in Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Her research addressed the need for qualitative and quantitative research to understand the risks and opportunities facing the mining industry, including mapping the consequences of potential tailings storage facility failures. 

In addition to her academic work, Sally worked as a Mining Solutions Consultant for Open Mineral, a digitally enabled commodity trader. She has worked in various sectors and mining-related fields, including exploration geology in north-central British Columbia, groundwater remediation and environmental development in northern Senegal.

Sally has a PhD in Mining Engineering and a BSc. in Geology (with distinction) from the University of British Columbia. She is passionate about sustainability and natural capital optimization in the mining sector.
