Haajarah Ahmed

Manager

Haajarah joined ICMM in 2022 as a Manager. She is responsible for ICMM’s Indigenous Peoples project and also contributes to the delivery of ICMM’s human rights project, and artisanal and small scale mining (ASM) practice group.

Prior to joining ICMM, Haajarah had experience working in policy and engagement roles across Government on natural resource and energy issues. Most recently, she worked at Natural Resources Canada supporting engagement with Indigenous groups to modernize Canada’s radioactive waste policy. Haajarah also supported the delivery of a Crown consultation process with Indigenous groups in relation to the TMX pipeline project. Prior to this, Haajarah worked at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Canada’s nuclear regulator, on emerging legislative, regulatory and policy issues.

Haajarah completed her MSc in Politics and Communication at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management specializing in International Development from Carleton University.
