Diane leads ICMM’s efforts around ESG reporting metrics, the skills initiative and on tailings. She brings experience from managing a diverse range of projects including tailings, community support, inclusive economic opportunities, as well as research in mining’s economic and social contributions. Most recently, she supported the development of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management, the Tailings Management Good Practice Guide, and the innovation roadmap on tailings reduction.
Prior to joining ICMM, Diane obtained her PhD from the University of Manchester. Her research investigates community engagement and sustainability practices of Chinese investments in Myanmar, with in-depth field research carried out at a copper mining project in Myanmar. Diane worked in corporate banking, an NGO managing community development and disaster relief projects, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi.
