18:00 – 18:20 GMT – Concordia Annual Summit: Sustainability in the Mining Sector
Join Christian at the Concordia Annual Summit to discuss sustainability in the mining sector. As the demand for sustainable solutions to the climate crisis heightens, so too does the need for new partnerships and models of investment into the exploration of critical minerals that will be essential for the green transition. Raw materials, such as Copper and Nickel, and increasingly uranium and lithium too, are required to transport and store clean energy - and their demand is skyrocketing. To meet the demands of decarbonization, the field requires an injection of investment and new ideas quickly. How can accelerators such as BHP’s Xplor, support concepts and unlock new ideas that may be too novel or early-stage to access bank funding but that could be pioneering the search for critical mineral deposits? What does this mean for other ESG investments? What kind of support do these early-stage geological concepts require? And, what innovations are we seeing to meet the new demands of lithium-ion batteries for EVs and other clean energy storage?

This cross-community gathering brings together technical accounting and finance practitioners to tackle the pressing subject of measuring and managing scope 3 emissions in reporting. Scope 3 emissions account for around 70% of the average corporate value chain’s total emissions but with supply chains often so vast and complex, measuring, managing and reporting these scope 3 emissions can be challenging. What are the critical pathways that companies can take to effectively address this issue?
