Assurance and validation

ICMM’s Mining Principles combine clearly articulated performance expectations with robust site-level validation.

Third-party assurance is provided over the alignment of company members’ sustainability policies to ICMM’s Mining Principles as part of members’ corporate sustainability reporting. Members approaches to identifying material risks and opportunities, their systems and approaches to managing risks, and their reported performance are also assured, to enhance the credibility of reported progress on social and environmental performance. In addition, progress with implementing the Mining Principles and related performance expectations is validated by an independent third-party on an asset-by-asset basis, and the outcomes are publicly disclosed to inform consumer-facing manufacturers, financial institutions, investors or other interested parties of progress with implementation.
