Principles for climate change policy design
Principles for climate change policy design outlines the latest step in ICMM’s approach to climate change.
It builds on ICMM’s Policy on climate change released in November 2009, as well as the position statement published in 2006, and forms the basis of ICMM’s newly formed program on climate change.
This program aims to ensure that ICMM member companies contribute to resolving the climate change challenge while securing the continued competitiveness of the mining and metals industry in a future low carbon economy.
It champions a principles-based approach to the design of public policy. This approach recognizes the shift to national and regional actions in addressing climate change with a view towards a stable global policy regime in the longer term.
