Resource Endowment initiative - Phase 2

Las Bambas - 3 women in a field

Phase 2 of the Resource Endowment initiative lasted from January 2005 to December 2006.

Phase 3 - January 2006 to date.

Phase 1 - May - December 2004.

Testing, Synthesis and Emerging Lessons

The purpose of Phase 2 was to test out the toolkit, to assess whether it could be applied to a broader set of mining countries, and to propose refinements.

The toolkit was applied in four countries where mining had shown some evidence of contributing to economic and social improvements: Peru (with Chile as comparator) and Ghana (with Tanzania as comparator).

A second multi-stakeholder workshop in November 2005 reviewed and provided feedback on a draft Synthesis Report.

PROJECT DETAILS

In Phase 2 of this flagship initiative, four country case studies were undertaken to assess the Toolkit.
