Resource Endowment initiative: Chile case study findings launched
ICMM's Paul Mitchell and Kathryn McPhail launched the Chile country case study findings, part of the Resource Endowment initiative in Santiago on 23 March. The luncheon meeting was hosted by the Institute of Engineers of Chile.
In his opening remarks, the President of the Institute, German Millan, spoke of the importance of companies, government and communities bringing their distinct strengths together to work on the shared objective of sustainable development in the mining sector in Chile.
The luncheon was attended by 150 people representing government, state owned and private mining companies, academics, and the media. The head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Ana Lya Uriarte, closed the meeting with a speech on the challenges ahead for the new Environmental Ministry.
