'Industry targets Climate Change' - ICMM's December Newsletter
ICMM has released the December 2009 issue of its Good Practice newsletter: “Industry targets Climate Change” to coincide with the Copenhagen summit.
It introduces ICMM’s policy on climate change and includes a special report that showcases some of the innovative ways in which ICMM members are addressing the climate change challenge, with examples from renewable energy to fuel from tyre chips.
In the words of Marius Kloppers, CEO of BHP Billiton and ICMM Deputy Chairman, “Whatever political agreements come out of Copenhagen, it is clear that the issue of climate change and how to address it will remain important for business.”
Tom Burke, founding director of the environmental organization E3G and environment advisor to Rio Tinto, provides insight into the post-COP15 future in his 60-second profile. In addition, the newsletter features ICMM’s recent work on human rights, health risk assessment and the challenges facing Tanzania’s mining sector.
