Goldcorp and MMG join the International Council on Mining and Metals

ICMM is pleased to welcome Goldcorp and the Minerals and Metals Group (MMG) as its two newest members.  Their membership was confirmed by ICMM’s Council of CEOs at their meeting on 14 October in London. It is a clear reinforcement of both organizations’ commitment to sustainable development and responsible business practices.

"By counting Goldcorp and MMG among our members, we continue to bring leading companies together to strengthen the contribution of mining, minerals and metals to sustainable development" stated ICMM's President, Anthony Hodge.

Andrew Michelmore, MMG’s Chief Executive Officer, stressed the group’s commitment to comply with ICMM’s Sustainable Development Framework. "Being part of ICMM is being part of a worldwide commitment - with other mining companies - to sustainable development" he said.

Chuck Jeannes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Goldcorp, said "As a member, we are committed to ICMM’s 10 principles and, among other benefits, membership provides us with a checking mechanism to confirm that we are truly engaged with the best practices in terms of sustainability at all of our operations."

Goldcorp is a leading gold producer engaged in gold mining and related activities including exploration, extraction, processing and reclamation. MMG is the world’s second largest producer of zinc as well as a substantial producer of copper, lead, gold and silver.
