ICMM at the annual Business for Social Responsibility conference
ICMM’s Aidan Davy spoke in a panel on ‘Corporate Responsibility to Respect Human Rights’, in the context of Business for Social Responsibility’s (BSR) 15th annual conference in New York.
The panel discussion and participation from the floor centred on how corporations’ responsibility is affected by the recent report of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for business and human rights, John Ruggie.
The theme of this year’s conference, which drew 1300 attendees from 50 countries, was “Sustainability: Leadership Required”.
In the context of financial uncertainty, there was a widespread consensus that sustainability is a strategic, long term priority that no knee-jerk reactions to a crisis should derail.
