ICMM's Aidan Davy talks to BBC

ICMM's Aidan Davy talked to Justin Rowlatt from the BBC World Service's Business Daily program on conflict minerals and the impact of America’s Dodd-Frank Act of July 2010 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The transparency provisions of this legislation introduced stringent requirements for reporting payments made to governments for oil, gas and mining development.

"To make this work, you need to have an undertaking on the part of the major producers [of consumer electronics], so that you know they’re not going to push the costs down to the smelters," Aidan Davy said. "This is where the responsibility needs to be shared across the supply chain."
