Manager – Environmental Stewardship & Social Progress
Prior to joining ICMM, Paul was most recently the Sustainability and Engagement Manager at the LEGO Group. In his two years in the role, Paul led a supplier engagement strategy that ultimately covered suppliers accounting for over 80% of LEGO's total annual spend. Taking the project from a pilot phase to a fully embedded operational programme across the business, Paul drove reporting, innovation and collaboration activity with suppliers and multi-disciplinary LEGO teams, delivering combined sustainability and commercial benefits.
Paul moved to LEGO from the Carbon Trust, a carbon and climate consultancy, where he worked across multiple sectors on product life-cycle analysis and labelling, carbon reporting, water impact and supplier engagement. Over six years with the Carbon Trust as a senior consultant, Paul led projects in China, Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil and Russia, and built partnerships with organisations including CDP, the UNDP and government agencies.
Paul started his career as a geochemical consultant. He holds a PhD in Environmental Measurement Quality and Financial Risk, and a first class BSc Hons in Environmental Science and Business Management from the University of Sussex, where he was also a Research Fellow.
